Great Northern Fire

The Park Rapids Fire Department responded to a fire at the Great Northern Cafe Tuesday morning after staff arrived to work in the early morning and found the building filled with smoke. The fire department received the call at about 5am. Upon arrival the fire department found a lot of smoke in the building with very little flame. According to Park Rapids Fire Chief Terry Long, the fire appeared to almost choke it's self out. Most of the damage is to one wall and there is smoke and water damage. The Fire Marshall was on the scene and preliminary findings are that it was an electrical fire. The fire is still under investigation,. Lance Pritchett the owner of the business hopes to get in and get things cleaned up as soon as possible so they can re-open. We'll let you know as soon as a re-opening date has bee determined.
