On 11-19-17 at roughly 0734 hours, the Otter Tail County Sheriffs Office received a 911 call from a residence within the city of Deer Creek. The complainant was reporting a 3 year old had sustained an accidental gunshot wound caused by a 5 year old. The Otter Tail County Sheriffs Office, the Minnesota State Patrol,  and the Wadena County Sheriffs Office responded to the scene with Deer Creek Rescue and Tri County Ambulance. The victim was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital before being sent to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. The investigation is ongoing.

**UPDATE***   Tuesday, November 21, 2017.    The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting event is on-going at this time.   Additional information can be released:  The 3 year old female victim is a sibling to the 5 year old male who shot the victim.  The shooting incident is believed to be accidental at this time.  The 22 caliber rifle was hidden at  the residence and was owned by one of the parents.  The investigation is being conducted by the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office and Otter Tail County Human Services.  The child's medical condition is being reported to Law Enforcement as stable.  As the investigation is active, there is no further information that will be released at this time.
