Authorities have identified the person found dead in the Otter Tail River on Friday night as 33-year-old Scott Roger Burris and foul play is suspected, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office. Burris was last seen in Fergus Falls on May 22. His vehicle was found abandoned on the same day in a rural area north of Elizabeth, which is approximately 15 miles from the part of the river Burris’ body was discovered. His body was found by swimmers and tubers in the river west of the Orwell Dam Friday around 7:30 p.m. After recovery by sheriff’s personnel, the body was transported to Lake Region Hospital and then to the medical examiner’s office in Anoka for an autopsy. Although positive identification has not been completed, the news release said that preliminary information such as clothing, gender and physical descriptors were enough to identify Burris.
