Park Rapids became the newest location to be added to the U.S.XC Racing circut. The 2 day cross country race involved two different routes and 120 drivers competing in 165 events. Classes ranged from pro's, to Juniors, woman and vintage sled races. The staging area was located on Hwy 34 East of Park Rapids at the old Silver Star City location. Racers exceeded 60-70 mph going down ditches to 100 mph across Long Lake. The average MPH was 64-67 MPH throughout the course on Saturday. The town was a buzz all weekend long and many people worked hard to make this race come alive after the green light was given. The group had one week to put it all together and it was a huge success! Congratulations to Jeff Voigt and Jon Koch; the organizers of the event, US XC Racing, and all the volunteers and people who helped in many ways to make it a safe and fun weekend.
