Benefit for 8 Year Old Burn Victim

Menahga, MN – 8 year old Arionna Matteson a second grader at Menahga Elementary School has sustained burns over at least 75% of her body, from a bonfire explosion in her backyard on September 29th, 2017. Two other children were burned in the bonfire explosion, Arionna’s 10 year old brother Drake, he received burns on the left side of his face and neck. Libby Havens, Arionna’s friend suffered burns on 12% of her body. Suffering the most is Arionna Matteson, the 8 year old had to be flown via North Memorial AirCare form Menahga to the Hennepin County Medical Center. Arionna was admitted in to the Burn Intensive Care Unit. On Oct. 3rd, Arionna had to undergo nearly a 5 hour surgery. Surgeons had to remove burnt skin from her legs, shoulders, and torso. Matteson underwent another surgery two day later on Oct. 5th, the surgeons worked the burns on her hands and arms, she had another 4 hour surgery that same day that focused on her neck and face. Arionna started undergoing skin graft surgeries on Oct. 16th, 2017. There will be more surgeries and medical procedures in the future for the 8 year old burn victim. Her family has a set up a GoFundMe account named “Healing for Onna,” the goal is to raise $10,000 to help with any medical expenses and other expenses that arise as Arionna recovers from the accident. There will also be a smoke pork fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 25th from 4-8pm at the VFW in Menahga, MN.
