Park Rapids Marquee Damaged in Fire

07/25/2017, 1:00pm CDT
By Cody Booker

On Monday night at roughly 6:50pm the Park Rapids Theater marquee was set a blaze and was severely damaged. The theater was evacuated within minutes and the fire was put out within ten minutes. Fire Chief Don Hoffman was on the scene and stated that everyone evacuated had no injuries. Though the fire was out quickly the Park Rapids Fire Department was on the scene for an hour to watch over the scene. The damage was only to the exterior and there was no damage to the interior. On Tuesday morning the State Fire Marshall was sent to look at the damage and it was announced it may have been from electrical issues. The official report will be out later in the week and have more information on the incident. The theater will be back up and running later on and the theater will continue to operate normally. We will have more information as the story continues to unfold.
